Botox and dermal fillers are both injectable treatments used for cosmetic purposes, but they work in distinct ways to address different signs of aging. Botox, a neurotoxin, is used to relax the facial muscles that cause dynamic wrinkles, which are visible during expressions like smiling or frowning, and is commonly used for forehead lines and crow’s feet. Its effects typically last three to six months. In contrast, dermal fillers are gel-like substances that restore lost volume and fill in static wrinkles—those visible even when the face is at rest. Fillers are often made of hyaluronic acid and are used to plump lips, enhance cheeks, and soften deeper lines around the nose and mouth, with results lasting from several months up to two years. The two treatments are often used in combination for comprehensive facial rejuvenation.
